The holiday season is all about giving!  While many people interpret this as purchasing gifts for their loved ones, the Christmas season can – and should – mean so much more! The holidays are a great time to give back to those in need while also remembering the true reason for the season.

There are ~143 million orphans in our world today and ~800,000 children who pass through the United States foster care system each year. These children, without hope or a place to call home, are lonely, hungry, and vulnerable. They often turn to drugs or become victims of human trafficking and/or teenage pregnancy. Project Hope Ministry is an organization that, among other things, provides homes and families for children who have none, giving them a chance for a more hopeful future.

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16

For this 3 week challenge, you simply choose ONE thing you can sacrifice to benefit your health – physical, mental/emotional, and/or spiritual. It doesn’t have to be food related and can involve adding a new healthy habit into your routine OR removing a negative habit. For example, you can give up snacking after 9 pm or forgo those overpriced specialty coffee drinks.  Or, you could commit to spending time in prayer, eating healthier, or exercising. Every time you follow through, you set aside a small donation (or keep track on a piece of paper, your phone, etc.) and at the end of the challenge we will donate it to the Project Hope Fund.   Donations will be used to provide grants to families who wish to adopt or host the orphans and foster children, allowing these children to experience God’s love, know that they matter, and have a chance for a more hopeful future. (If you would like to participate in this challenge and donate to a different charity/ministry you are more than welcome to do so.)

Throughout the 21 days, we will reflect on scripture to keep Jesus as our focus over the holiday season. We will also support and encourage one another to grow in our faith while seeking to improve our health and serve those in need.
