Growing up, fitness was a part of my routine. Between swim practices, field hockey practices and other activities, I could pretty much eat whatever I wanted. As a Division I athlete in college I continued to eat whatever I wanted. A whole pizza? No problem. A foot-long sub? No biggie. When medical school started, I was no longer working out like a college athlete (if at all at some points). With the stress of studying I kept reaching for the unhealthy foods.
Over the last 6 years I gained 90lbs. I would try dieting and working out, but nothing stuck for more than a few weeks. When I was dieting, I never felt full, and continued to crave sweets or chips, which would lead to my downfall. I would lose 5-10 lbs and gain 10-15 lbs back. I was at my heaviest at 230 lbs (being 5’1″). Then I found out about Jen’s online group program and I decided to sign up. It was the best choice I have made.
In 9 weeks months, with Jen’s group program combined with the P90X3 workouts, I lost 30 lbs and 27.5 inches (including 7.5 inches off my waist). I COULD NOT have done this without Jen’s support, Shakeology, clean eating, and checking in with my accountability partner every day. Shakeology has eliminated my cravings. On weekdays I use it as my breakfast. On my days off I like to have chocolate as my afternoon snack. It keeps me full and helps with my sweet tooth. I was skeptical about it at first, but have really fallen in love with what it does for my body. I was also worried about the price (as a medical student, I have a limited budget), but found that when I am shopping for healthy foods, supplements, etc. I would spend much more than my bag of Shakeology! Clean eating doesn’t feel like a diet to me, but a way of life. Due to the increased protein, I don’t find myself hungry or feeling deprived after my meals.
I loved seeing the suggestions from fellow members of the group and can’t wait to continue this. I feel healthy again and am no longer ashamed of what I see in the mirror. I still have a long way to go until I reach my goal weight, but with the help of Jen’s groups, clean eating and Shakeology, I am off to a great start!
